One of her favorite areas to teach and instruct is theatre. She has directed theatre productions in South Carolina, Georgia, and Colorado. Her favorite productions thus far have been: White Christmas, My Fair Lady, Our Town, and Jane Eyre – The Musical. She was recently a finalist for the Charles Nelson Reilly Stage Directing National American Prize Competition for her most recent production of Jane Eyre the Musical with Artios of Greenville. Her private piano students have participated in the National Piano Guild and have placed in MTNA state and regional competitions. Several have received college scholarships to go on to study piano or music at the college level and some have continued on into graduate music programs. She has also taught on the college level as an adjunct music faculty member.
In 1998, Lori began the Artios Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts in Atlanta, GA, as an advanced-level arts program for high school students. That program has now grown to include an integrated arts and academics program for K-12 and a performing and visual arts program for high schoolers with several campuses around the country. Lori served as the National Executive Director of Artios Academies until May 2019, overseeing curriculum development, the development of The Artios Home Companion Series curriculum, staff training, director training, and parent education for Artios campuses across the country. She now serves in a mentoring position for directors and staff and is in charge of curriculum development. Lori is also the author of Beginning with the End in Mind.
Lori is actively involved in the formation and development of the new Collegiate Peaks Living Education program in Buena Vista, CO. Collegiate Peaks Living Education is a hybrid educational parent partnership program inspired by the Charlotte Mason philosophy of education. She serves on the advisory board of CPLE, which is in its inaugural year as of the fall of 2023.
Known for her contagious enthusiasm and energy for teaching and the arts, Lori's ability to inspire her students results in students achieving more than they ever thought possible in many areas of life. Students learn to stretch themselves, hold themselves accountable, and believe in themselves and their abilities. She believes in the power of relational teaching and in teaching to the whole heart of each student. She looks forward to sharing music with intermediate to advanced students in this area and to sharing music through early childhood music education.
