Arkansas Valley Children’s Chorus

AVCC provides a place where young singers (ages 7-12) come to grow their passion and skill as choral singers. We are building a community of people passionate about learning and singing together.

Now in it’s second year, the Arkansas Valley Children’s Choir has as its mission to provide professional-level instruction in vocal technique, music theory, sight singing, ear training, and presentation as well as exposure to a variety of choral styles for young people grades 1st - 6th.

Founder and Conductor: Jared Lane

After being involved in numerous children and youth choirs while growing up, Jared truly fell in love with singing through musical theatre. He began taking private voice while in high school and competed in vocal competitions in both classical and musical theatre often making the finals and placing. Jared went to college, where he studied singing for four years, studying both broadway and classical styles. While in college, he was diagnosed with Hyper Musical Tension Dysphonia or DTA during this time. This condition inhibits the ability to sing. However, working through DTA with his instructors for over three years, he relearned to sing through various avenues and techniques. This has made him even better equipped to teach a wide range of students effectively and to carefully teach proper vocal techniques. For Jared, what was hard to learn has become easy to teach.

Jared holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition, and during his undergraduate studies, he studied voice under Dr. Troy Castle and Dr. Shellie Beeman. He was able to perform in choirs under the direction of conductors such as Dr. Pattye Cassarow, Dr. Fred Coleman, Dr. Michael Moore, and Dr. Warren Cook.

His teaching experience includes eight years of private studio instruction, directing children and youth choirs, and attending a variety of vocal pedagogy conferences and seminars. In addition, he was the assistant director for the award-winning productions of both operas and musicals while in college. Jared also conducts his own film scores with the Prague Metropolitan Orchestra.

Jared is excited about founding the Arkansas Valley Children’s Chorus and sharing his love for music, singing, and community with the members of the choir.
